Ja Morant whose full name is Temetrius Jamel “Ja” Morant has already racked up a number of basketball awards in his short playing career as a point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies Bears. The no.2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft has played in several shoes during his playing career including KD11’s, Kyrie 5 and 6’s, Nike Adapt BB 2.0, and various Kobe 6’s.

Morant’s Sneakers In Year Three (Most Improved Player)

The Memphis Grizzlies guard has been on fire during the 2021-22 season, it’s fair to say it has been a breakout season for him. Morant scooped up the Most Improved Player award and was a legitimate MVP candidate averaging 27.6 PPG, 6.7 APG, and 5.7 RPG a game in the regular season.

Although he has mostly worn Kobe’s Ja has also stepped on the court with the following pairs of shoes: The Nike Kobe 6 Protro, Nike KD IV, Nike Kyrie Low 4, Nike Kyrie 1, Nike Kobe 5 Protro, Nike Kobe 8, Nike Kobe 9 Elite, Nike Air Zoom GT Run and the Air Jordan 1.

The most common shoe Ja wore this season was the Kobe 6 Protro’s. And he has had some memorable games in the ultra-comfortable high performing Protro 6’s including one of the single greatest dunks in the NBA playoffs against Minnesota Timberwolves. The Grizzlies were down 13 points before this dunk triggered the start of a dramatic comeback win to take a 3-2 series lead.

In the 2020-2021 season, Morant averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in 63 games. Ja ranked #7 amongst guards in assists, and #29 in points which translated into a Grizzlies playoffs berth, for the first time since 2017.

Morant’s draft report card stated that he was a “Dynamic athlete and playmaker, adept at creating offense for himself as well as teammates” and they were right. In his Murray state days, Ja made an immediate impact in his freshman year, averaging 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. He dominated the Ohio Valley Conference in his second year, improving his stat line to 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 10.0 assists per game. Ja also registered a triple-double in the NCAA tournament versus Marquette.
