It seems the longer I live the more the cycle of life has an ebb and flow to it. There are a lot of older professionals that are leaving their careers and going into teaching. This is good from the stand point of their on the job training a bring a different kind of teaching to the profession.
On the other side of the flow is the folks at Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship that is now offering recent grades to get a Masters degree in one of the STEM fields. If you have forget they are talking about science, technology, engineering or math degrees. This program is recruiting grads into Becoming a Teacher. This masters progams is seeking to recruit and retain teachers to go to where the schools who need them most. We are talking about a win-win for those who take part. The only drawback is the deadline for the masters progam is September 1. Those that take part will have completed the teaching fellowship with a field-based master’s degree in teacher education and your requirements is to teach for at least three years in a high-need school of needs. Maybe I should get back in the mix for this one.
